Boating at MIYC
The MIYC calendar is filled with exciting boating activities throughout the year, from relaxing sunset and luncheon cruises to a fun-filled nautical scavenger hunt. Members also enjoy memorable overnight adventures to ports throughout Florida.
Best of all, you don't need to own a boat to join the fun. Full and Equity Members are welcome to participate by cruising with fellow Members and sharing in the camaraderie.

Sunset Cruises
Enjoy a relaxing evening on the water by hosting fellow Members aboard your boat or joining another Member on theirs. Cruise together in a flotilla, take in the breathtaking sunset, and then return to the Club for dinner, conversation, and camaraderie. It's the perfect way to unwind and enjoy an unforgettable evening in our island paradise.

Day Cruises
Set out with your Yacht Club friends on a scenic day cruise to a waterfront destination for lunch. Popular stops include the Naples Yacht Club and the Rod & Gun Club in Everglades City, with flotillas of boats bringing together 20 to 50 MIYC Members for each outing.
Day cruises also feature fun, interactive events like our Scavenger Hunt, where teams follow clues, capture photos of designated landmarks and objects, and compete for prizes and bragging rights. Whether you're in it to win or simply along for the adventure, every cruise is filled with laughter, camaraderie, and unforgettable memories on the water.

Overnight Cruises
For a true getaway, join one of MIYC's extended cruises to some of the region's most memorable destinations. These multi-day adventures take Members to exciting ports where you'll enjoy waterfront dining, local attractions, and unforgettable experiences together. Past cruises have included the Florida Keys, the Bahamas, and favorite Florida destinations such as South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island, with side trips to Useppa Island and Cabbage Key.
More than just a cruise, these trips create lasting friendships as Members share new adventures, explore beautiful harbors, and make memories that will be talked about long after returning home. From sunset cocktails to friendly competitions—like the legendary crab races at Tween Waters—extended cruises are filled with laughter, camaraderie, and the kind of experiences that make the MIYC boating community so special.

Blessing of the Fleet
Each February or March, the Marco Island Yacht Club proudly hosts the annual Blessing of the Fleet, a cherished maritime tradition celebrating safe passage, fellowship, and the start of another boating season. Boaters from MIYC and area yacht clubs gather on the Marco River between Factory Bay and the Jolley Bridge before parading past the Club's Bridge Officers to receive a blessing from the Club Chaplain.
The procession is traditionally led by the Marco Island Fire Rescue vessel J.W. Adams, followed by the Marco Island Princess, participating fleets, the Marco Island Police Marine Division, and the Chief of Police. As veterans pass in the parade, they are honored with the playing of their respective service hymns, making this both a meaningful and memorable community event.
A Tradition with Deep Roots
The Blessing of the Fleet traces its origins to Mediterranean fishing villages, where mariners sought divine protection before setting out to sea. Today, the ceremony remains an enduring tradition in coastal communities throughout the United States. In Florida, the first Blessing of the Fleet was held in St. Augustine, home to a thriving shrimping industry established by Italian and Sicilian immigrants.
Join the Parade
MIYC welcomes all local boating organizations to participate. Boats may parade individually or as part of an organized fleet, making the event a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the boating community together.
Watch the Club calendar for registration details each February or March, then sign up to have your boat join the procession. Invite fellow Members aboard to share in this special tradition.
Enjoy the Celebration
Even if you don't own a boat, you can be part of the festivities. Watch the parade from the Yacht Club's Courtyard, Burgee Bar, or Veranda, then stay to enjoy a buffet lunch and a Concert in the Courtyard. Guests are encouraged to wear blue and white as we celebrate this beautiful tradition together.
